2019 Tackle Football

 

About: The goal of the tackle football program is to provide a safe, fun, inclusive learning and competitive environment for 2nd-8th grade athletes to learn game mechanics, get active, practice ball handling skills, and enjoy the game of football. Players are organized into teams and practice several times throughout the week and play several games throughout the season. The games will be played against teams from neighboring towns.

Details:

  • Late August through October
  • Practice three times weekly in the evening (TBD)
  • Several games throughout the season (by schedule - primarily weekend games)
  • 3nd - 8th grades
  • Co-ed
  • Broken out by age groups: 3rd-4th, 5th-6th, 7th, and 8th (possibly 7th-8th)

Registration:

  • All registrations must be completed online
  • Player cost
    • $100 (prior to May1st)
    • $125 (May 2nd - July 1st)
    • $150 (after July 1st)
  • Receive a $25 discount for families with multiple players in the program.

 Physical Forms:

  • All players are required to have a current physical form on file.
  • Physical forms can be found here
  • The physical form MUST have a doctor’s signature in the current fiscal year.
  • Players WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PRACTICE/PLAY until the Physical Form is turned in!
  • Mail forms to SFC, P.O. Box 862, Scarborough, ME 04070 or bring the form with you to the first practice

Required Equipment:

  • Athletic Cup
  • Mouth Guard - consider buying a couple inexpensive ones as the players tend to lose/chew them.
  • Water Bottle - put player's name on bottle.
  • Cleats are recommended, but not required.

 USA Football Heads-Up Tackle:

  • All coaches are trained and certified in USA Football Heads-Up tackle technique
  • All coaches believe in the heads-up tackle model and insist in proper form
